Hitler's Munich

Why did Adolf Hitler, an Austrian by birth, begin his unlikely political career right here in Munich - and so late? How did someone who first tried to avoid military service end up volunteering to fight in World War I ? He was a failed painter, a self-styled gunslinger, an unsuccessful revolutionary, and an admirer of flashy leather uniforms. By the time he turned 30, his life was going nowhere — until, in 1920, in the back room of a small Munich tavern, he was practically invited to enter politics.

Munich, at the time, was a city in turmoil: post-war chaos, revolutionary uprisings, and fierce political street battles set the stage. It was the perfect breeding ground for extreme ideas and dangerous ambitions. This is where our tour begins, as we follow the path of Hitler’s early years in Munich and explore how this city became the unlikely cradle of one of history’s darkest chapters.
